KPI Options are a tool used by DAOs to focus their community on specific objectives by creating ERC20 tokens tied to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). These tokens, collateralized by the DAO's own assets, reward members based on the achievement of these goals. The process involves defining a KPI, minting tokens, and distributing them to incentivize community engagement towards reaching the set target, culminating in payouts conditioned on success.
If the target is not achieved, the KPI option token will expire at the end of the year and will not have any value.
After the KPI Option has matured, any excess collateral that was used to collateralize the tokens can be returned to the DAO treasury.
